Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology is located in Butiama District, Mara region. 

The Mara region is located in the northern part of mainland Tanzania. It is located between latitudes 1° 0’ and 2° 31’ and between longitudes 33° 10′ and 35° 15′. To the north the Mara region borders Uganda and Kenya. 

It is also bordered by the Arusha region to its east, Shinyanga region to its south, as well as the Mwanza region in the southwest and west. 

Butiama is one of ten administrative districts within the region, located between latitudes 01^o 46′ and 0 S and between longitudes 33^o 58′ and 0 E.

The University main campus is located 38 km from Musoma town adjacent Musoma-Arusha highway, and 15 km from Kiabakari off Musoma –Mwanza highway and 5 km from Butiama District headquarters.
