Welcome to the School of Science Education (SoSE) that is located at the Oswald Mang’ombe Campus in Butiama, where we are committed to serving many different and diverse stakeholders (including students, teachers and administrators) with a variety of backgrounds and perspectives and to maintaining a safe and productive learning and working environment. The SoSE, which is headed by the Dean, currently comprised of two Departments: Department of Education and Department of Humanities. Each Department is led by the Head of Department. Our academic staff have diverse research interests, which span a wide range of specialization fields, including civil engineering, agriculture and education. These diverse fields of specialization facilitate the inclusion of diverse ideas and knowledges in both teaching and research. Importantly, our students are exposed to a wide range of theoretical aspects and hands-on skills. In each academic year of their studies, students undertake teaching practices in various government and private schools, thus gaining hands-on experience in school governance, administration, and classroom management, which ensures that they graduate with a wealth of subject matter and teaching expertise. What We Offer

The School of Science Education through the Department of Education, currently offers two academic bachelor programmes: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Education and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with Education. Each of these undergraduate programmes is designed to offer our students with high quality education in their fields of specialization, enabling them to make significant contributions to the education sector worldwide. Our Strength

The SoSE collaborates extensively with various stakeholders, including educators, policymakers, Engineering Board, Teachers Board, Business Leaders and Community-Based Organizations, to ensure that every student teacher is well equipped with both theoretical aspects and hands-on skills. Students undertaking the B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with Education programme will graduate as registered civil engineers and certified teachers. Similarly, those undertaking the B.Sc. in Agriculture with Education programme will graduate as agricultural experts and licensed teachers. Our graduates will have the ability to employ themselves and create job opportunities for others. These graduates are also well-suited for employment in Technical and Non-technical Secondary Schools, Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA), Teacher Training Colleges, Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE), National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA), Tanzania Education Authority (TEA), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and many other national and international organizations dealing with education, agriculture and engineering matters. Additionally, our graduates may decide to pursue Postgraduate Studies in civil engineering, agriculture and education specializations.
