MJNUAT Student Leaders Urged to Embrace Integrity and Responsible Leadership

Newly elected student government leaders at Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT) have been called upon to uphold ethical leadership, fulfill their responsibilities diligently, and serve with excellence—demonstrating initiative and accountability without the need for constant supervision.
The call was made by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lesakit S. Mellau, during a brief but meaningful swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected leaders of the MJNUAT Student Organization (MJNUATSO).
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on earning the trust to lead your fellow students,” Professor Mellau said. “I urge you to serve with fairness, unity, and a commitment to timely, effective delivery of your duties.”
He further encouraged the leaders to cultivate a culture of hard work, patriotism, and innovation—qualities essential not only for personal growth but also for creating employment opportunities for themselves and others. These values reflect the University’s broader vision of fostering self-reliance and national development.
Professor Mellau also assured the leaders of his open-door policy, inviting them to consult his office whenever they encounter challenges beyond their capacity to resolve, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and collaborative problem-solving.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Oswald Mang’ombe Campus in Butiama District and was attended by University faculty, staff, and Students.
