The University has three campuses. Our Main Campus and the Oswald Mang’ombe Campus are located in Butiama, offering a vibrant academic environment rooted in heritage. In addition, we operate a growing campus in Tabora, expanding our reach and impact across Tanzania.

Main Campus

The Main Campus of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT) covers 573 acres and is situated just 5 kilometers from the Butiama District Center. It lies along the Musoma–Serengeti–Arusha Road. The Main Campus is home to:

  • The College of Agriculture
  • The School of Agricultural and Bioprocess Engineering and Technology
  • The School of Mining and Renewable Energy Engineering and Technology

Our campus is equipped with modern facilities designed to support student success. The Main University Library can seat up to 2,000 students and offers advanced technology for individual study, group discussions, and access to both physical and electronic resources.

Learning spaces are spacious and well-equipped, with classrooms and lecture theatres that can accommodate between 50 and 200 students. Practical skills are a priority at MJNUAT, and our state-of-the-art laboratories provide hands-on learning experiences for students across all fields.

Oswald Mang’ombe Campus

Located in Kibubwa Village, Butuguri Ward of Butiama District, Oswald Mang’ombe Campus occupies 86 acres of tranquil landscape, providing an ideal environment for learning and personal growth. Established in 2014 and officially opened in 2015, it stands as the first campus of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology.

The campus hosts the School of Science Education, comprising the Department of Education and the Department of Humanities. Currently, it offers two academic programmes launched in the 2023/2024 academic year:

  • Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture
  • Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness

Oswald Mang’ombe Campus provides a supportive academic environment, complete with modern classrooms, a well-stocked library, student hostels, and an on-site dispensary—ensuring that students can focus fully on their studies. In addition, the campus offers various sports and recreational facilities, promoting a balanced and enriching university experience.

Tabora Campus

Tabora Campus is located in Itonjanda Village, approximately 15 kilometers from the Tabora District Centre, along the Tabora–Nzega road. Nestled within the local community, the campus is currently under development and is set to welcome its first students in the 2025/2026 academic year.

It will be home to the School of ICT and Business Studies, with capacity to accommodate up to 1,500 students. Designed to provide a modern and supportive learning environment, the campus will feature fully equipped classrooms and laboratories to enhance both theory and hands-on learning. On-campus facilities will include a cafeteria and a dispensary, ensuring that students have convenient access to essential services throughout their academic journey.
