Butiama DC Urges on Efficiency in the MJNUAT Construction

The Butiama District Commissioner, Hon. Moses Kaegele has urged local contractors to ensure they work efficiently to assist the nation and honor the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere.
He made these remarks today, January 19, 2024, during his visit to inspect an ongoing construction project at the Main Campus of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT) in Butiama.
"I urge local contractors who are engaged in projects in Butiama district to work on time and with quality so that the government can award them more and larger projects," advised Hon. Kaegele.
Hon. Kaegele expressed his concern over the delayed progress of construction activities by two out of three contractors involved in the project.
"This is a very large project, but I am very disappointed with the delay of about three weeks by two contractors. I have instructed them to work day and night to compensate for the lost time," emphasized Hon. Kaegele.
Hon. Moses Kaegele commended one contractor who successfully progressed with construction activities within the scheduled time frame.
Furthermore, Hon. Kaegele urged the supervising consultant to be present at the construction site all the time to ensure that the ongoing construction activities meet the required standards.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Vice Chancellor – Planning, Finance, and Administration, Prof. Msafiri Jackson assured the District Commissioner of Butiama that the university, in collaboration with the supervising consultant, would ensure that the given instructions are implemented.
"We will ensure that all contractors work on time and with quality, and we will compensate for the lost time by implementing appropriate strategies, while continuing with the scheduled project work plan," said Prof. Jackson.
The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology is constructing 16 buildings at its Main Campus in Butiama under the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project that is expected to come to its completion by May 30, 2025.
