The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT) has been praised for the good construction progress of its Butiama Main Campus, which is being carried out through the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project.

These praises were given by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Technology, Hon. Omary Kipanga (MP), during his visit to the university to inspect the construction progress on September 25, 2024.

"I am pleased because, initially, it was just words, then it became written plans, but now we see implementation. I would like to congratulate the university, the Butiama District Commissioner, the consultant and contractors, and all community members for ensuring that this project succeeds," Hon. Kipanga stated.

He added that MJNUAT has shown the way on how to implement construction projects, and the government hopes that the project will proceed smoothly and be completed successfully and timely.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lesakit Mellau, while discussing the projects being implemented by the university, requested the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology to approve the university's request for development funds that will be used for completing the final stages of the Renovation Project at the Oswald Mang’ombe Campus.

"We request the Ministry to approve our request for the allocated development funds, by urging the Ministry of Finance to release these funds early once we submit our documents, so that the procurement of administration block equipment and furniture, which were not included in the renovation budget, can take place before the beginning of 2024/2025 academic year," Prof. Mellau explained.
