The academic staff of Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere University of Agriculture and Technology (MJNUAT) and the Community Development Officers from Mara Region have been urged to promote change of the Tanzanians' perspectives on money to boost economic and social development in society.

This was said by Dr. Joel Matiku, Project Administrator of the Catalyzing Transitions to Employment and Firm Development for Youth, Women and People with Disabilities – Evidence from Tanzania’s Economic Empowerment Scheme Project, during the workshop on Successful Writing of Funded Project, Projects Management and ‘LGA’s 4:4:2’ for the MJNUAT academic staff and Community Development Officers from Mara region councils held today on June 27, 2024 in Musoma district.

Dr. Matiku emphasized that academic staff and Community Development Officers have a significant responsibility of transforming the nation from poverty to prosperity by altering the mindset of the youth.

"We are expecting to achieve social and economic development in all our councils across the country through your efforts as Community Development Officers and University Lecturers. This is because you have the power and ability to change Tanzanians' perspectives. You cannot seek money if you do not have a positive attitude towards it," stated Dr. Matiku.

The facilitator of the workshop, Prof. Robinson Madegela from Sokoine University of Agriculture highlighted the importance of loans provided to youth, women, and persons with disabilities to be accompanied by training and insurance to ensure effectiveness.

"Youth should be empowered through loans. This is what helps youth worldwide in finding a starting point to become self-sufficient," added Prof. Madegela.

This capacity-building training to the academic staff and Community Development Officers is expected to come to an end tomorrow on June 28, 2024
